The Idea
The families living on The Diomedes Islands were forcibly separated by an invisible line as a result of the Cold War.
So even though the islands are only 2.5 miles away from each other, these families have to travel
the entire world to meet their relatives again. In winter, the sea freezes and connects the two islands,
making it possible to cross it on foot. However, they are unable to see each other.
In Heineken we love connections and we believe there’s no better way to connect than over a beer.
For that reason, we have created a bar-counter for a re-encounter by literally connecting families
and even people who may feel ice-solated with the same ice that separates them.
